Steel Magnolias (1989)
Very Cheesy, very 80's and very big hair but ultimately very sad and uplifting too, not my usual kind of film but having watched it from a young age it's still really enjoyable although i cry every time and don't really like Julia Roberts. The actresses work so well together, these outstanding females hold the film together and each other when tragedy strikes their quaint community they rally just like real friends do. Not an amazing feat in filmmaking but a satisfying tear-jerker good for a rainy afternoon when you want sadness but not depression.
Like This Watch These: Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) Old fashioned heartache, Terms of Endearment (1983) Cancerous heartache, Stepmom (1998) Modern heartache.
