Closet Monster (2015)
A tale most of us have lived - a teenager trying to escape their hometown, explored here with the added burdens of horrific childhood memories and parental concerns about sexuality. Likeable lead characters and an oft told story this still feels fresh, with excellent use of a Hamster with a recognisable voice and authentic youth. A good coming-of-age flick that reminds you how difficult and spontaneously fun the teen years were, and how seemingly small things during our childhoods can shape who we become. We should all remember the sage advice,no matter how bad it seems now it will get better or at least change in some way.
Like This Watch These: Moonlight (2016) Another struggling teen, Boyhood (2014) Like living someone's life, The 400 Blows (1959) (Subs) Stunningly told sad childhood.
