I, Origins (2014)

I found this quite magical and beautiful, it deals with some interesting themes and it has a haunting ethereal quality about it. A Doctor researching the evolution of human eyes is the basic plot but throw in a fascinating scientific discovery, a charming and convincing love story and an intelligent and original script and you get a tender, clever romantic sci-fi drama. Skilful performances from astute actors help with the slightly slow pace which is no problem in this meditative joy. Beauty is explored in a very non-hollywood way you would be forgiven for assume this was a European film.

Like This Watch These: The East (2013) Brit Marling joins an anarchist group, Night Moves (2013) Environmental protesters, Never Let Me Go (2010) Science doesn't help everybody.
