They Live (1988)
Who wouldn't want a pair of sunglasses that revealed the truth of the world we live in especially if it's secretly been taken over by Aliens trying to subdue the human race. That is the story in this John Carpenter classic although the aliens take a back seat compared to the manipulation and subliminal messages of corporations and government we all slightly suspect really control the world. B-movie style, funny and subtly terrifying (what if it's true!), it is oft referenced in many things from The IT Crowd to Dazed and Confused usually the bubblegum line, " I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and i'm all out of bubble gum". Watch this as an important piece of film history, to make you a conspiracy theorist or just for fun but do watch it, OBEY.
Like This Watch These: The Fog (1980) Great horror from JC, The Thing (1982) Aliens changing shape to be just like humans, Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) A very funny political satire.
