Black Mountain Poets (2015)

If Alice Lowe is in it i will watch it, she never disappoints, this may not be her funniest role but hers is the best character amongst these sensitive poets. This pleasing, kooky comedy gently explores relationships and love, two sisters on the run assume the identities of a pair of famous poets and join a retreat in Wales. The picturesque scenery is dulled by the weather which feels apt for the story and the U.K. The cast are all good and the two leads raise the standard, it begins stronger than it ends with the comedy ebbing away as a love story is focused on. Don't let the 'poets' of the title put you off there is not a lot of prose and some is bright and comical.

Like This Watch These: Wish You Were Here (1987) Funny and matter-of-fact Emily Lloyd delights in this early Brit-com, Sightseers (2012) Alice Lowe wows in this hilariously dark camping comedy, Withnail & I (1987) One of the best British films ever, hysterical, moving and memorable.
