The Nice Guys (2016)

One of the best things about this film is seeing both male leads playing characters most unlike their usual roles, and very well too, Gosling and Crowe make the script seem natural and funny. Set in the 70's a mismatched pair of private investigators are looking for a young girl possibly connected to a murder and cover-up. Heavily influenced by plenty of buddy movies and other genres, the party scene is like a less trippy version of The Big Lebowski, it still feels quite fresh. Full of action, laughter and a slightly shaky plot this is a fun, likeable movie that gets better the more you watch it.

Like This Watch These: Lethal Weapon (1987) One of the original cop/buddy films, Midnight Run (1988) An oft forgotten very funny Robert De Niro comedy, Hollywood Homicide (2003) An odd but gently amusing Harrison Ford project.
