Boy (2010)

Taika Waititi is my current talent crush, he seems to have the magic touch with both performing, writing and directing. He seems to capture the essence of real life, the crushing sorrow of loss and the elation found in laughing with your friends.  This little gem is funny, sad and an obvious gateway to the tremendous Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Set on the coast of New Zealand in the 80's a young Michael Jackson fan reunites with his hopeless criminal father, who is made much more appealing by Mr. Waititi's portrayal. The young cast are impeccable and delightful, it feels like they all had a ball making it. I am so very excited about all his future projects.

Like This Watch These: Black Sheep (2006) Murderous Sheep with the New Zealand wit, Big Fish (2003)  A magical story of Father and Son, Anything involving Taika Waititi.
