The Untouchables (1987)
MUST WATCH There is simply too much to say about this film, from the very strong high calibre cast to the intricate story and the way it's strikingly told i could watch this anytime. Very loosely based on the real-life arrest of Al Capone this masterpiece is bursting with heart pounding action, gut churning violence, good/bad cops, ratty gangsters and such an apt and quotable script ("Did he sound anything like that"). A haunting and affecting soundtrack it breaks your heart (opera scene) and pumps you up (Battleship Potemkin homage at the Train station). One of the best gangster dramas ever.
Like This Watch These: Carlito's Way (1993) Excellent ex-con trying to go straight, Goodfellas (1990) Ultimate modern gangsters, Once Upon a Time in America (1984) Epic gangster film.
