24 Hour Party People (2002)
One of Steve Coogan's best performances is of the irritating poser Tony Wilson in this account of Factory Records, The Hacienda and the eventual downfall of both. Perfect for anyone who likes music and a laugh, amusing and interesting you really get swept away with the Madchester scene. Even if you weren't around then or don't particularly like that music there is something in here for all, it's a who's who's of British cinema and they have picked some of the best. Did i mention it's really comical and witty? It is. Very. Nostalgic in a great way it reminds you of how important that time in pop culture was and how music is always changing and how necessary that is.
Like This Watch These: Control (2007) A more serious study of Joy Division's Ian Curtis, stunningly shot, High Fidelity (2000) A fun ode to music by an obvious fan, who doesn't love a top 5 list?, This Is Spinal Tap (1984) Music and laughter it doesn't get closer than this.
