The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
MUST WATCH You can spot a Wes Anderson film a mile away, i adore them all but i think this is my favourite. The bright visual splendor that is the director's trademark brings this cinematic treat to life. An unconventional family reunites with their estranged Father, but it is so much more than that. Each actor embodies their character and their individual foibles with aplomb, the star power is huge but not distracting. Everybody has family issues from small or emormous to weird and wonderful and this movie reminds us of that and that we must laugh or we will cry, Would i go so far to say it's a work of genius, yes i would.
Like This Watch These: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) Possibly my next fave and one of Bill Murray's best roles ever, The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) Another star filled joy from Mr. Anderson, Hotel Chevalier (2007) A wonderful short works as a prologue to The Darjeeling Limited, with my Mum's favourite song beautifully used.
