The Overnight (2015)
Funny and unexpected, this is a comedy about being an adult for adults. A couple moves to L.A. and try to make new friends via their kid, the first couple they meet seem great fun but is that all. Constantly surprising and unlike anything else, it could be a play. The cast really make it, Jason Schwartzman is himself fabulous and stands out as always, but they are all really good and go together well as partners. It's like a well focused drama with wit and fun, it shows people as they are and how they try to be.
Like This Watch These: Creep (2014) An earlier excellent effort from the same director, again not what you think, Date Night (2010) Nowhere near as clever but silly and fun, Rushmore (1998) Schwartzman's terrific early turn as an very enthusiastic schoolboy.
