The Bad Batch (2016)
I was so excited about this film, so deep down i knew it wouldn't be what i hoped. Set in a dystopian future with cannibals (that's my dream premise-i'm sick) our lead is thrown in with her audience to find her way through the wasteland. Director Ana Lily Amirpour astounded with her feature length debut and her hand is still visible here with many (possibly too many) long lingering shots of the desert with often a lone figure wandering. Two very famous stars playing very much against type are excellent and almost steal the show, purely because lead Suki Waterhouse is bland and not actually very good. The story drags a little and you find yourself feeling it could have been great but something just doesn't click, though it does have its moments.
Like This Watch These: A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014) Amirpour's debut feature turns everything on it's head fantastically, Snowpiercer (2013) Wonderfully bleak, you wont look at Captain America the same after this, Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) It's basically a massive car chase, in the desert, in a shit future.
