In The Radiant City (2016)

MUST WATCH Nobody is happy in this quiet, subtle, impressive family drama, and all the actors are stellar throughout giving heartfelt and emotional performances. It builds slowly whilst holding your interest and though the payoff at the end is not explosive it feels right. A man returns to the home and family that was thrown into disarray when he testified against his brother and sent him to prison, surprisingly he is not welcomed back with open arms. The additional details are dispersed really well and you don't spend the film waiting to find out more, which i really liked as i wasn't left wondering. It's remarkable that so much drama and intrigue fits nicely into ninety minutes, it also doesn't treat it's audience as idiots which is nice. The director Rachel Lambert is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Like This Watch These: Blue Ruin (2013) This excellent film is also about returning home but this one is about vengeance, superb, Animal Kingdom (2010) Brilliantly acted, this criminal family try to keep the young ones on the bad path, Hell Or High Water (2016) Another troubled family in this great Oscar nominee.
