It all looks very cool, but not particularly 80's to me, and it's quite slick but if the only different thing about this spy thriller is that the main character is a woman, that just ain't enough. There is nothing new here, the fights are fine, but not spectacular although one fight scene on a staircase is tremendous. The characters are your usual spy types and Charlize is much better when she is battling baddies than talking to them, what the hell is that accent?, she occasionally sounds English but too rarely to be considered good. It's fine but i have seen far better spy films, hardcore heroines and better written scripts.
Better Than This: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) This is how to do an English spy film, La Femme Nikita (1990) And this lady is the best female spy/assassin on film, Haywire (2011) Some superb fights, but perhaps not the best acting from Gina Carano an ex MMA fighter, buffered by a host of male stars who she usually beats the shit out of.
