Dunkirk (2017)
MUST WATCH Yes it is as good as you assume it will be. Seeing this from the air, land and sea is a stroke of genius, it cuts between all three seamlessly and each narrative has a focus, i struggled with the timelines initially but they come together as they were meant to and gloriously so. All the actors are believable and excellent, Harry Styles is not excellent nor is he annoying or bad, Tom Hardy acts so well with just his eyes it's amazing, everyone really pulls together and does their job to their best. The air part was my personal favourite, not just because of Mr. Hardy but the shots just blew me away, it looks incredible and those sounds will never leave me. The score works perfectly with the action. I could talk about this film all day, i cried, chuckled, worried and thought and it also made me proud to be British, which doesn't happen that often these days. I cannot find a bad word to say about it, i just hope it doesn't get swamped when watching on the small screen.
Like This Watch These: Mrs. Miniver (1942) Less technically astounding but heartfelt and lovely, Saving Private Ryan (1998) Still powerful, Memento (2000) See how good Christopher Nolan has always been with his breakout wrong way round film.
