Good Morning, Vietnam (1987)
MUST WATCH My favourite Robin Williams performance and film, today at least. This is a roller coaster of emotion, lead by laughter, surrounded by fear and anger at the war, joy, sadness but the one that will stay with you the most is the utter delight of listening to Adrian Cronauer. He is so quick and funny that every re-watch brings new amusement and it is very quotable. For me it's one of those perfect films that you can watch at any time because it encompasses so much, not usually described as a war film but that is the main back drop, a comedy certainly but more like stand up. It's an all time fave for me i remember watching it with my family, all of us in stitches, and running into my brothers room and screaming the infamous line and replacing Vietnam with his full name. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this, i doubt i would be friends with them if they didn't at least titter.
Like This Watch These: Aladdin (1992) To let Robin Williams improvise must have been scary but well worth it, the funniest Disney, Mash (1970) Another war film that leads with humour and high jinx, How I Won The War (1967) Funny and a little surreal, war as only the British can do, and John Lennon's in it.
