The Third Man (1949)

MUST WATCH This is one of my all time favourite films it is a classic of a very high standard. The story is intriguing, exciting and expertly shot, it has beautiful reveals as the tale moves on expecting the audience to have a brain. The cast all round is superb Orson Welles's screen time is scarce but extremely powerful his cuckoo clock speech leaves me dumbfounded, Joseph Cotton is the ideal struggling everyman and Alida Valli is the ultimate torn woman. The soundtrack is so well known and placed deftly throughout the film everytime i hear it i know i need a rewatch. The mystery of the plot is reflected in the scenery highlighted by its only Oscar win for Cinematography and it makes me long for old school film-making and style. I love love love it.

Like This Watch These: The Stranger (1946) Lovely secretive noir, Double Indemnity (1944) Classic womanly wiles, Sunset Boulevard (1950) Jaded hollywood starlet.
