MUST WATCH Before The Hunger Games breezed in there was this amazing film of supposed tearaway teens sent to an Island to kill their classmates until only one survives. Beautifully shot and acted this once shocking premise still holds it's own as a brutal but emotional cautionary tale. The Japanese youths are just like usual classmates i had, not the fake american perfect creations we so often see, flashbacks are used skillfully to further the viewer's relationship with all the intriguing characters of which there are many. One of my favourites is the sympathetic but scary teacher Kitano-Sensei portrayed by the legendary genius (in my view) Takeshi Kitano/Beat Takeshi i love him and will watch anything he has something to do with, as this character i want to hug him. I am apparently immune to film violence but have been told this is pretty rough going but it's not needless, it is in my opinion essential. Enjoy.
