I love a good scare, it's good for the blood (Dr Who quote) i had trouble sleeping as a child and would often stay up late watching old films, i remember the first time i watched this i turned all the lights off closed the curtains and sat right in front of the TV ready to be scared. And i was, in a good way, along with being totally drawn in to this new (for a 13 yr old) macabre style, it looked pretty shaky to my overindulged youthful eyes but that took nothing from the underlying sense of terror i felt. The last scene is stunning and still strangely soothes me, the template for many modern horrors it still rates high for me. A first-rate classic still chilling and watchable, we do not talk about the remake.
Like This Watch These: The Hills Have Eyes (1977) Creepy shit, Repulsion (1965) Scary depression Or House of 1000 Corpses (2003) Psycho family.
