Table 19 (2017)
A nice surprising, not sickly sweet, amusing bit of wedding drama, not usually my kind of thing but it won me over with the excellent casting and by not doing the most predictable thing they could have. Anna Kendrick's character bravely attends the wedding of a friend whose brother and best man just dumped her, and i thought i could tell you the rest of the movie but it's subtler than that. Some obvious things happen but not really in the usual way, no farcical catastrophes or fights during the wedding just things to be got through or worked out. The gang at table 19 are perfectly cast and entertaining this is the table i would want to be at.
Like This Watch These: Pitch Perfect (2012) Kendrick again funny and some great pipes, Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) Still my favourite Richard Curtis film, excellent swearing, The Wedding Singer (1998) The laughs and 80's setting stop this being too saccharine.
