The Black Cat (1934)
Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi, two horror greats performing together for the first time in a bizarre tale of Devil worshipers. It is peculiar to watch as it is quite modern, not by today's standards but for the 30's it seems forward thinking. Seeing the two icons square off against each other as neither of their infamous monsters (Frankenstein's monster and Dracula) is a bit of a treat for any lover of classic horror or movie stars. The story is nothing special, a couple honeymooning in Hungary get taken to a house to recover after an accident where their companion meets a figure from his past and discovers some secrets. They are both angry and creepy in very different ways. Fun to watch as a historic on screen meeting.
Like This Watch These: Frankenstein (1931) A classic and great heart breaking performance from Karloff, Dracula (1931) Not as scary as it was when first released but still a gem, The Night of the Hunter (1955) An eerie and chilling depiction of a human monster.
